Conquest
Real-time faction-based territory control game where you claim and defend hexagonal tiles using faction stubs
Conquest is a multiplayer territorial strategy game where eight factions compete to control a hexagonal map. You spend faction-specific resources called stubs to attack enemy tiles or defend your own, with the standings updating each tick.
Factions
Every player belongs to one of eight factions:
Crusader, Overseer, Athena, Archon, Foxglove, Summoner, Chobo, Gigus
Each faction has its own stub item used for conquest actions, a unique color on the map, and a shared treasury that members can pool resources into.
The Map
The conquest map is a hexagonal grid. Each tile is controlled by the faction with the highest score on it. Tiles come in two types:
| Tile Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Regular | Standard territory tiles |
| Nexus | Special fort tiles worth more points and harder to hold |
You can only act on tiles that are adjacent to your faction's existing territory or an unoccupied nexus.
Map Views
- 2D view — flat hex grid colored by faction control
- 3D view — elevated fort visualization with camera controls (WASD + mouse)
Visualization options include fog of war, heat map mode, activity overlays, and custom color settings — all saved to local storage.
Actions
Click any eligible tile to open the action panel. Two actions are available:
| Action | Effect | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Attack | Reduces a target faction's score on the tile | Their faction's stubs |
| Defend | Increases your faction's score on the tile | Your faction's stubs |
Enter an amount, optionally draw from the faction treasury (if you have permission), and confirm. The map updates each tick as actions are processed.
Ticks & Rounds
The game progresses in discrete ticks. A countdown timer shows time until the next tick. You can navigate tick history to review past map states. When a conquest round concludes, final standings and crown rewards are calculated.
Faction Hub
The Faction Hub panel provides tools for coordinating with your faction:
Treasury
The faction treasury is a shared pool of stubs. Authorized members can draw from it when taking conquest actions, letting the faction act collectively even if individual balances are low.
Orders
Officers and leaders can create orders to direct faction members toward specific tiles. Orders track status (pending, in progress, completed) and any approved member can execute them.
Members
The members list is split into three sections:
| Section | Description |
|---|---|
| Approved | Active faction members with assigned ranks |
| Pending | Applications awaiting approval |
| Invited | Outgoing invitations awaiting acceptance |
Ranks
Every approved member is assigned one of four ranks, from highest to lowest:
| Rank | Description |
|---|---|
| Leader | Faction owner — cannot be demoted or reassigned through the UI |
| Warlord | Senior rank with broad authority |
| Scout | Mid-tier rank |
| Delegator | Default rank assigned to new members |
New members are always assigned the Delegator rank when approved. You cannot change your own rank even if you have the permission to change others.
Permissions
Each rank has a configurable set of permissions that control what members can do in the faction. Permissions can be viewed per rank from the help panel in the Members section.
| Permission | Description |
|---|---|
| Change Member Rank | Promote or demote other members (not yourself, not the Leader) |
| Kick Members | Remove approved members from the faction |
| Approve Members | Approve applications and send or cancel invitations |
| View Treasury | See the faction treasury and stub balances |
| Use Treasury | Draw from delegated treasury stubs when taking conquest actions |
| View Faction Moves | See conquest actions taken by other faction members |
| View Orders | See faction orders |
| Create Orders | Create and manage faction orders |
Leaderboard
The conquest leaderboard shows standings for both players and factions:
- Player standings — rank, crowns earned, contribution percentage
- Faction standings — total tiles controlled, points, participation rate
- Filter by faction, sort by multiple metrics
Your own faction is highlighted in the leaderboard for quick reference.
Tile Info Panel
Clicking a tile shows detailed information:
- Current faction scores with a live preview of how your action would affect them
- Pending activity from other players
- Contributor history (who attacked or defended and by how much)
- Action controls with treasury toggle
